What We Do
The Development Department at Sharbiv is responsible for identifying potential projects. This includes a wide range of possibilities, among them acquiring land from private entities, participating in tenders and taking part in urban renewal projects.
Our Creed, Reputation and Experience
The creed of the Development Department is the development of the country, and its foundations take us back to 1956, the year the Company was founded. The Company’s founder, Joseph Kalish, of blessed memory, saw the need to expand and develop the land of the State of Israel and to build new localities. In its early years the company carried out development work in the new localities that were built in Sinai after the Six Day War, and also laid the water pipelines of the National Water Carrier of Israel. The Company also initiated and built the wooden houses in Ofakim and Netivot as part of the plan to provide rapid solutions to the large wave of immigrants that came to Israel at the time.
Sharbiv recently developed the Givat Alonim project, an entirely new neighborhood in Kiryat Ata which the Company advanced for about 30 years. The project began with the acquisition of land, through preparation for residential construction and all the way to population of the neighborhood with hundreds and thousands of new residents. In addition to developing the country, an additional and central Company value is that business is conducted first and foremost with people. This value is reflected in the Company’s interpersonal relations with contractors, suppliers, various entities, and of course with the residents purchasing their future apartment.
From Planning to Execution
Development projects entail processes, and these may take several years. The first stage is formulating the idea, and it takes a long time until the project takes shape and reaches the feasibility and execution stage. Sharbiv does not shy away from taking on complex projects such as evacuation and reconstruction (pinui-binui) and urban renewal. This is consistent with the Company’s desire to continue the development of the State of Israel for the good of future generations and to build renewing cities that are suitable to live in.
Department Structure
The Development Department is comprised of engineers with a business engineering orientation and decades of experience. Our employees understand the business aspects, know how to assess project feasibility and the realistic possibility of carrying them out, as well as the regulatory aspect of characterizing and handling the projects. To achieve this department personnel act in collaboration with local government to enable execution of a new city building plan or any wide ranging planning activity needed in order to bring the project to the construction stage. The department is also responsible for managing the planning teams in the aim of bringing the project to the final planning stages and its preparation for execution by the Company’s Execution Department.
